API Media Supports the 152nd Kentucky Oaks and Derby at Churchill Downs

May 3, 2026

Louisville, KY — API Media, once again, partnered with Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY in the provision of audio and video distribution services for the 152nd running of the Longines Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby.

Since 2016, API Media has been a trusted partner of Churchill Downs in the deployment of televisions, audio systems and signal distribution in the infield suites and various activation tents. For the 2026 Kentucky Oaks and Derby, API Media deployed and installed all infield televisions and speakers as well as distributed the in-house media feeds to the infield suites.

“API Media has witnessed the transformation of Churchill Downs over the years with the new renovations of the Paddock, First Turn grandstands, and other improvements at the track.”  said API Media’s Vice President and General Manager, Jeff Cifrodella.  “The racetrack is an iconic facility, and we are fortunate to partner with Churchill Downs on this annual event.”

Douglas Scharbauer and Three Chimneys Farm’s undefeated “Always a Runner” kicked into high gear late to get up in Friday night’s $1.5 million Kentucky Oaks (G1) at Churchill Downs. “Always a Runner” was trained by Chad Brown and jockeyed by Jose Ortiz capping off a five-win day for Ortiz at the historic Louisville track.

Cherie DeVaux became the first female to train a Kentucky Derby winner when Golden Tempo rallied from last to edge Renegade in the 152nd running of the Churchill Downs classic. The final yards of the $5 million contest turned into a brotherly rivalry. Irad Ortiz Jr. was galvanizing Renegade to make a move in deep stretch, only to be overhauled by his brother Jose aboard Golden Tempo.
